Day Tour |
Half day sightseeing of Athens (Guided) |
Your driver will pick you up from the arranged point and we will start this full day private sightseeing tour of Athens.
As you enter the city center and the tour begins, your first stop will be at the exquisite Panathenian stadium.
Built on the site of the ancient Athenian stadium, entirely from marble, for the first modern Olympic Games of 1896. It is very impressive and well worth a stop.
After the brief stop you will set off towards the Temple of Zeus, a colossal ruined temple that was dedicated to Zeus, king of the Olympian gods.
The remains of this once great temple still inspire awe to the visitors of the site.
Continue onwards via the national gardens for a brief stop outside the Greek parliament.
The traditionally dressed Evzones stand guard outside the building; the changing of the guards is fun to see and get a feeling for Greek modern history.
Your driver will be waiting to take you to the Acropolis.
The Acropolis of Athens
The drop off point is at the entrance of the site. With your camera in hand and your walking shoes on, walk up to the site to enjoy the beauty of these magnificent buildings.
See the Parthenon, the Propylaia, the Erechtheion and the temple of Athena Nike. The buildings on the Acropolis are considered by many as the most impressive architectural feats of the ancient times.
The Acropolis, and the Parthenon in particular, is the most iconic monument of the ancient Greek civilisation. It continues to stand as a symbol in many ways: it is the symbol of democracy and of the Greek civilisation. It also symbolises the beginning of Western civilisation and stands as the icon of European culture.
Your visit to the Acropolis will end and the tour will continue with a walk to the new museum (a short walk downhill of about 10 minutes).
The Acropolis Museum
The new Acropolis museum opened in 2004 is one of the newest and one of the most impressive in Europe. Architecturally it is exquisite and the exhibits are laid out in such a way that allow the visitor to understand and appreciate the true beauty of the ancient Greek sculptures.
The Acropolis Museum is an archaeological site-specific museum, housing more than 3.000 famous artefacts from the Athenian Acropolis, the most significant sanctuary of the ancient city.
Interestingly, the archaeological excavation that lies beneath the Museum provides the opportunity to visitors to appreciate both the masterpieces of the Acropolis in the upper levels of the Museum against the remains of the day to day lives of the people that lived in the shadow of the Acropolis over various periods

Excellent tour!! Daphne was an absolute wealth of information and made the tour such a pleasant experience. We gained great knowledge about both ancient and modern Athens. Highly recommend this tour! Wonderful morning exploring ancient Athens with our most delightful host Daphne and driver, Dimitri. Thank you.

Our lovely guide Sandra and driver Dimitri, made our 1/2 day tour of the Acropolis and Museum as enjoyable as possible in the August heat. From having bottled water for us, finding shade to chat in and to handling all the tickets so we could skip the lines--made this tour worth every penny. My husband and I returned to Greece with our teenaged children and this tour was a perfect overview of the top sites. The air conditioned van was comfortable as we drove by the Olympic stadium, temple of Zeus, syntagma square as well as lesser known sites. Clear and concise descriptions were provided and photo ops were available as per our request. We highly recommend Siva for a more personal tour, booking online was a breeze, Sandra met us in our Hotel lobby--it was as if we were meeting an old friend to take us around the city. Don't hesitate booking them you won't be disappointed!!

This was our first day in Athens so we wanted to get an idea of where everything is.
Our group of three varied between very interested to not really interested so booking a tour was bit of a gamble. But Effie (I do hope the spelling is correct) was super and by the end we were all buzzing with the knowledge and very keen to explore more of Athens. Effie had a great deal of information to hand but kept it to a level that made us all happy, a very clever lady!
Pick up was very punctual and being driven in air conditioned luxury was a bonus as the day was very hot.
This is not a cheap trip but worth every euro. I would most certainly recommend Effie and Siva Travel.

eugenia led my wife and me on a great half-day tour. mostly acropolis and new museum. Felt less like a paid tour and more like meeting up with an old friend from college who had gone off and gotten a phd in archeology without telling us. she's not just a guide, she's a storyteller. So while the out-of-pocket was substantial, the experience was well worth it. Heartily recommend.

We booked the Siva Private Tour of Athens with Maria as our tour guide for July 2016. We have probably taken 100 or more tours over the years of travel and Maria was THE BEST! Very extensive history knowledge, well organized and efficient to see many places in short time, and extremely pleasant and enjoyable personality. Although not a native English speaker, she speaks perfect English and we never missed a word! At the end of a fantastic half day tour, she agreed to take us to her favorite Greek restaurant which topped off a perfect trip. Could not have been better!

Eftychia is perhaps the very best private tour guide we have ever had. From the very start...prompt, punctual and impeccably dressed. I had requested a tour guide that would be mindful to detail (information) as well as the heat and the walking involved. Eftychia always found a shady spot to share information and most of the time a place to sit. She was genuinely concerned about our comfort. We look forward to working with her in the future and know that she will give us what the tour describes and so much more.
