An exclusive private tour of Delphi |
Your personal driver will pick you up from the hotel in order to start this wonderful tour to the Unesco world heritage site of Delphi.
Delphi is approximately two and a half hours from Athens. The route follows the national road north through the plains of Beotia and passes outside the town of Thebes. As you get closer to Delphi, you will start the ascent to the imposing mountain of Parnassus. The ancient site is at the foot of the mountain; the Pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi.
Ancient site of Delphi
Passing by the Castalia spring you will visit the archaeological site and view the monument of the Argive Kings, the treasury of the Athenians, the Athenian Stoa, the Polygonal Wall, the monument of Platea and the Temple of Apollo. The site is very large and there is a lot to see including the famous oracle where in ancient times people believed they would learn what their future held. Enjoy the views from the site, they are incredible – the setting is so impressive that in ancient times it was considered the navel of the world.
The Delphi museumAfter visiting the site of Delphi the next stop is museum. The Delphi museum has spectacular exhibits including the frieze of the Treasury of the Sifnians, the Naxian Sphinx, the Statue of Antinoos the metopes of the Athenian
treasury and the famous bronze Charioteer. It is well worth visiting the museum as the exhibits complement what you saw at the site and will allow you to get a better understanding of the role Delphi played in antiquity.
Your personal guide will explain and give you insights about the sight, the history and the legends surrounding it. Take advantage of being on a private tour and the one to one personal attention your guide will provide. Our guides are not only fully certified and accredited, but also are handpicked to be the best in Greece; their depth of knowledge and ability to pass this on, in an interesting and captivating way, are unparalleled.
After your visit to the Delphi museum walk down to the site exit where your driver will be waiting.
Next stop is lunch! A short drive to a traditional restaurant – selected for you is a lovely menu of local tastes. Enjoy your lunch; take the opportunity to taste regional products and experience original Greek cuisine. The restaurant has amazing views of the olive grove plains below. A Greek coffee at the end of our meal will conclude this fantastic tour of Delphi. (see note on including/excluding lunch)
After lunch depart for Athens to return to your hotel. The drive back is an opportunity to discuss with your guide aspects of ancient Greece that intrigued you from this visit to Delphi.

This would be up there as possibly the best tour we had all trip. Anna, our guide, obviously loves Greece, has an encyclopaedic knowledge, and imparts it in a gentle, warm and engaging manner. Couple that with the flexibility of a personal tour - she went out of her way to accommodate my wife who has trouble walking distances - and you have the perfect combination. Also welcome but unexpected was a narrated tour of the sights of Athens on the way out - stopping to photograph the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was no trouble.
It was an awe-inspiring experience visiting Delphi, and I truly cannot recommend it highly enough. You must do this!

Quite a long drive from Athens but well worth it. Delphi is a amazing Unesco listed archeological site and should not be missed when visiting Athens.
We had an excellent driver and our guide Stelios was very thorough in explaining everything to us as well as being friendly and thoughtful. After the tour we had a guided visit to the nearby museum which again was an unforgettable experience.
Lunch was a short drive away to a very clean taverna with scenic views. A very enjoyable day trip, one we wouldn't have missed.

In early October we took a day trip from Athens to Delphi with Siva Travel. From the moment we were collected from our hotel to the minute we were dropped back we felt like first class passengers. Our Guide Maria was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable on all things Greek both Ancient and Modern - she has a wonderful way of explaining the complex Greek history in a way that everyone easily understood and more importantly enjoyed!. She was patient and happily answered a myriad of questions - and had great recommendations about lunch! She is obviously passionate about her job and is by far the best guide I have ever encountered in Greece on my many trips to Greece. Our Driver Dionyssis Panagopolous was also excellent - a very, very competent driver and a really nice guy! Delphi is spectacular and is full of history and a must do if one is visiting Athens - but to make the most of it you really do need a guide. Siva Travel were excellent to deal with when organising our Delphi Trip. We also used them for airport transfers, ferry transfers and accommodation. Communication was easy and prompt - no question was too hard to answer. They proved extremely reliable and efficient. We encountered an airline strike whilst we were there and they went out of their way to ensure our holiday was not disrupted - it was lovely to know that they were looking out for us.
We cant recommend Siva Travel highly enough we will definitely be going back and definitely be seeking them out to look after us in Greece!

Our family spent two weeks traveling in many parts of Greece, seeing many historical sights and taking numerous tours. This tour was by far the most informative. Stelios was an extremely knowledgeable guide. His background is in archeology and the information he shared with us about Delphi and other spots in Greece we could not get from just reading guidebooks. Highly recommended! Worth every euro!
